I've been using O2 Broadband with the original O2 wireless box with no problems at all since earlier in the year. I don't use the wireless connection I prefer to use the wired ethernet connection due to the location of my PC & phone line.

About 2 months ago my connection started to drop intermittently. All the lights would be working on the router, all green (or orange in the case of the wireless light) but I'd be disconnected from MSN and I couldn't browse the internet at all. It is easily rectified by switching off then straight back on. Long story short eventually the wireless box gave up and when I tried to switch it on the only light that worked would be the power light. Nothing else lit up, so I called O2 and they sent me a replacement, the wireless box version 2.

I've had it about 3 weeks now and the connection problems have still been happening, and today it's happened about 6 times, I'd be connected for about 5 minutes then everything would drop. This is actually the first time I've been connected for any considerable length of time (maybe 20 mins).

The reason I'm writing here and not calling O2 is that I'm wondering if anybody else is having these problems, I'm also wondering if it is maybe a problem with my PC due to the lights on the wirless box not going off or red. I also connect to Xbox Live through the box and I don't appear to have the same troubles where that is concerned. I'm using XP with the service packs (SP3) Internet explorer 7 and Firefox as my browsers.

Hoping somebody can help or point me in the right direction.

yeah i have a similar problem, drops intermittently, sometimes its wired pc's sometimes its wireless,

ive had noise margin adjusted, router changed, line tested, pinged the ip up, hard reset the router, changed wireless channels and still no hope :(

last idea i have is to try an old router i have however this is only a g router and not the n (which the o2wireless box 3 is) but it looks like im going to have to buy a new one :(

also i cannot access the router when either the wired or wireless is down (by typing 'o2wirelessbox.lan' in browser) can you?

only other info is ive 3x wired pc's and 5x wireless laptops and an xbox 360 potentially all on at the same time and they are a variety of makes, models, wireless adapters, ages, mac and pcs and they all have the same problem.

Hang on. I've got the same problem and I live in Bicester.

It's odd that looking for a solution brought me to this thread seeing as I live in Bicester?

XP all latest updates
O2 Wireless box II

I've tried two different computers. One with two different wireless usb dongles and one wired directly to the rouger via an Ethernet cable.

Both computers show the same symptoms.

After 10 - 30mins of using FDM (Free Download Manager), the computers would lose all network traffic although the computer shows a working internet connection in the system tray.

The only solution is to restart the computer at which point everything resumes as normal.

After losing network traffic I cannot access the router 192.168.1.254 or ping the router or do anything network related.

I've got the feeling the O2 router is causing the computer to go into this state.

I was wondering if it was O2 trying to stop specific computers using the connection very much even though they say it's an 'unlimited' connection.

I think my next route is to try another router (different to the O2 wireless box II), to see if 'they've' got control without the firmware they keep updating in their own router?

Any one else with thoughts?
