I installed Solaris but could not connect to the internet. When i tried to look at Network on the system menu, I got a message that it is not available but to use NWAm(M1) manager. Well I don't know where NWAm(M1) manager is as it doesn't appear on any of the menus, nor could I find it in terminal. I couldn't access the internet to research it, so I installed UBUNtu and it connected without any problems.
Can someone please explain to me in simple terms how to connect Solaris to the internet. I am not going to instALL it now but I would like to try it the next time I do an install.

I'm experiencing the same issue. Though I can connect if I choose an xclient session instead of gnome. With gnome, my ip is plumbed, by default route is there ... the driver for my nic is working, I can get to my router via the intranet access page (system status) and I can ping it. I can't get anything external though. I thought this was strange so I changed my session to an xclient session and now I'm online??? Makes no sense. Only thing thats changing is the session itself. I've seached for pretty much the last 8 or 9 hours now trying to find anything on this ... checked through opensolaris.org, gnome.org, google, etc, etc and I've found nothing. Anyone else having the same issue or know how to fix this?? NWAm is disabled on my build ... I'm able to launch the Gnome Network tool ...

EVen stranger ... I've made no changes except ... now I've changed my session back to gnome and voilla, all of a sudden I have external connectivity?? That's pretty messed up!! Anyone else see this or anything similar??? The only changes that have been made after the initial build were switching from gnome to xclient ... xclient to gnome? I spent hours trying to get gnome to allow me out to the internet?? My hosts, defaultrouter, nodename, netstat -rn, ifconfig -a ... everything is exactly the same as I left it before switching to xlcient??? Frustrated and annoyed is about all I can use to describe myself right now ... I'm afraid to shutdown ... I may never get back online.
