OK, I have seen this article and now I understand that I cannot leave my Mac as it is, unprotected. http://support.bicester-computers.com/showthread.php?t=150
I have Norton at this moment but I am not too happy given the bad reviews I have found online. Could you please recommend me a better program if there's any?
Thank you

Hi MacTechnology,
Please do not confuse Norton's review for Windows OS with Norton's reviews for Mac OS.
Norton Antivirus for Windows OS is having major troubles at the moment while Norton Antivirus for Mac OS is probably the best by far.
There are a few things I personally don't like at Norton:
First of all, it includes too much bloat-ware (extra programs and 'features' users may or may not want).
Also, customers frequently have installation problems. System drag is a big issue for Norton AntiVirus users, and customers are unhappy with Norton support options and service.
On the other side, Norton removes and prevents installation of Macintosh malware and stops Macintosh users from passing on malware to PC users via e-mail. The program is also, very easy to use.
I also like Intego’s VirusBarrier - very good scanning speed and very well-integrated with Mac OS. It gives you a contextual menu in the Finder, and a Dashboard widget updates you on the progress of scans and virus updates. It integrates with iCal and has full drag-and-drop support.
Anyway, Symantec’s Norton Mac AntiVirus 11 remains my favorite Antivirus for Mac OS and that's thanks to its extensive virus information, its strong removal capabilities and resolving the whole list of existing issue we all had with Norton Antivirus Mac 10. (see more here)

Use Malwarebytes. its free and doesnt take up a lot of space. It picked up a few things Norton couldn't.
Best of Luck,

Dude, malwarebytes doesn't cover Mac OS. Not to the date from what I know.
