I'm using Outlook 2007 on a Windows XP box with SP3. Within the last day, it's been giving me erroneous "a dialog box is open" messages. There are no active dialogs on my system and the error is accompanied by the death of the O menu system until I either kill it via taskmanager or reboot.

Help appreciated.

Oh, I ad this error on our network at work too a few months ago while I was adding a few computers to our LAN - installing Office 2007 Suite. I did fix at that time but I cannot remember how.

Hi Dean,
Thank you for your post.
It is a well known bug on Office.

Here is what I would do:

1.
Update the antivirus software and scan to check if there is any virus on
the computer.

2.
When the "a dialog box is open" message appear, please minimize the
current Outlook window and all other window to show the desktop, do you see an opening dialog box?

3.
Let's start Outlook in safe mode and do not perform any action in it,
will it prompt the "a dialog box is open" message?

4.
Click Start, and click Run.
In the Open box, type: "outlook /safe" (without the quotation marks)
There is a space character between Outlook and the forward slash (/).
Click OK.

Please let me know if this solves the problem or if you would like further
assistance.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,
