me again:
Another problem - while trying to sort out my vista update problems; this time is a problem running chkdsk under Vista:
Tried to run from the command prompt after executing CMD. System came back with the message I did not have sufficient privileges, " Access denied as
you do not have sufficient privileges. You have to invoke this
utility running in elevated mode".
How can I fix this?

You need to run chkdsk as administrator even if you have an Admin account already.

1) Go to Start->CMD->right-click on command prompt and select Run As Administrator. This will "elevate your privileges".

2) Or: Run chkdsk by right-clicking on your OS drive, select Properties, then Tools tab, then select Error Checking, Start, select options, schedule to run with computer restart, then restart your computer. The scan and fix option takes 5-10
minutes, the restore bad sectors option may add another hour to complete
chkdsk.

3) Or, disable User Account Control(UAC)
Start>Control Panel>User Accounts>Turn User Account Control off.
Restart then try again. Should work this time.
