The other day I have received an email from one of our customers asking about an email he has received the same day. Apparently an unwanted email, a sort of spam.
Here is the email, without any contact details:

Good Afternoon,
As per your recent telephone conversation with my colleague I am writing to confirm our offer of a first page position on the Google search engine with a choice of two key phrases.
This will be at a cost of:
£99.00 + VAT per month for a minimum period of three months with a one off set up fee of £99 + VAT.
Following completion of this period the price will be fixed and the contract will continue for a further 12 months unless written notice of cancellation is given 30 days prior.
Should this be of interest to you please do not hesitate to contact us on 01772 685xxx. Alternatively more information can be obtained from our website www.gxxxeresell.co.uk (http://www.gxxxeresell.co.uk/).

Bear in mind that there was no telephonic conversation with any of her colleagues.
Quite intrigued I have decided to have a closer look to their website. Guess what I have found:
“Contact US for a realistic assessment of the benefits of PPC (pay per click) advertising for your business. We only use qualified Google Ad Words Professionals to handle client budgets. We are the 1st UK PPC management company to do, and are still one of a very small number that do not allow 'unqualified staff' to manage client PPC campaigns.”
1st UK PPC management company?
I was looking for a telephone number to give them a call just that there’s none therefore I had to send them an email asking for:
Proof of their staff’s qualification.
Clients stories – examples.
Google re-selling contract
I am still waiting for a reply to my email. Nothing yet. Just that today, I have notice a few changes on their website. The above posted text has been removed from their site and also Google AdWords Reseller Logo is gone...
The point here is to understand that there are so many SEO fraudsters out there. Waiting for you to make a simple mistake. Not only waiting for you but pushing you. Once you've stepped wrong is not just your money you're going to lose but also those little places you've hardly earned in Google or Yahoo in so many years...
How do you know who is good and who is bad out there? It is simple. Just type SEO in a search engine like Google or Yahoo. If your "SEO Specialists" are not on the 1st page in top 3 then just leave it. Stop right there. It is pointless to continue and actually this thread shouldn't be here as a good SEO company doesn't need mass emailing advertising. They're too busy with their customers.
Still confused? Well, before taking a SEO contract on board and throwing through the windows over £2000 just give us a buzz. It is free.
