What is .Zyg - Bifrose threat?


Type: Malware
Description: Malware ("malicious software") consists of software with clearly malicious, hostile, or harmful functionality or behavior and that is used to compromise and endanger individual PCs as well as entire networks.

Category: Backdoor
Description: A Backdoor is a software program that gives an attacker unauthorized access to a machine and the means for remotely controlling the machine without the user's knowledge. A Backdoor compromises system integrity by making changes to the system that allow it to by used by the attacker for malicious purposes unknown to the user.

Level: High
Description: High risks are typically installed without user interaction through security exploits, and can severely compromise system security. Such risks may open illicit network connections, use polymorphic tactics to self-mutate, disable security software, modify system files, and install additional malware. These risks may also collect and transmit personally identifiable information (PII) without your consent and severely degrade the performance and stability of your computer.

Removal tool:
Download here, make sure you update it first and scan the system in safe mode.
Install NOD32 and run a full scan after restart. What was the name of the virus you have found?

For some reason, I've never been able to start my computer in safe mode. I press f8, it comes up with the list of options, but I can't go up or down. I've tried every key. Is there a way to get around this? And also, is NOD32 better than AVG? I've been recommended so many different antivirus programmes I don't know what will work and what won't?

I just clicked on the 'download here' link you put in your post, and it asked me if I wanted to download Smitfraud.exe ? Is this safe????

Just asking because I thought smitfraud.exe was a virus itself. I'm using a wireless keyboard and mouse but the receiver is connected to the computer via USB. I've also tried a keyboard connected by USB but it still doesn't let me go to safemode. Why when I click on the link does it come up with smitfraud.exe???

That's right. Smitfraud is a trojan but as you can see here you're downloading SmitfraudFix and not the trojan. Trust me, I am here to help and not to make your problem even worse.

Try a ps2 keyboard, it should work.
